Whew, Got One

Do yall know how many weather widgets are out there?,,, Think I went through them all, but kinda like this one,,at least for now.  AND, it shows wind speed, direction.  Haven't had that. 

Don't like the weather report, says bad stuff coming again.  Got some beef stew meat out, gonna make a stew tomorrow, already have cornbread in the freezer, and a few boxes of jiffy mix,,lol.  I used to buy a 5 lb bag of potatoes, and end up throwing most of it away when they got all wrinkled and squishy.  With the chicken I've been cooking, and the stew i'm gonna make, won't take long to use this bag.  OMG,, just have 2 eggs, that means an egg trip.  Think i'll get them from my friend, she told me her hens were going crazy, laying right now.

I reinstalled that malwarebytes, and ran it yesterday.  There were over 1600 bad things to delete!!  Which I did.  Gonna try to keep this clean.  You can run it in the background, and it doesn't interfere with other things you're doing.

Got my house tax bill laying out here, hope I don't forget to pay them.  lol.  Also put myself a sticky note on here too, along with the 2 doc apts I have this week.  I made out my utility bill a few months ago, I guess on a weekend, and later put another paper in front of it.  Late that month, a girl called me from the utility office and asked me why it wasn't paid... I WAS HORRIFIED!!  I had NEVER EVER paid one late.  There it was, still behind that paper.... She told me she knew something was wrong, because she knew I hadn't ever done that either, and that was why she called.  Nothing like living in a small town,,,,. 

I've never written but ONE hot check either,,, hahahahah and it was a good one!  5000. one.  I got a late fee notice from the bank.  I was MAD,,,lololol.,,, I called that bank president and gave him a chewing,,, About why I wasn't called when they saw it (written on the wrong account).  He sure didn't waste any time correcting the incident, taking the late fee off my account, but the bad thing was, the one I had given the check to, wrote checks using it, making his bad too!!  I reimbursed him for those.
Played bridge with that bank president,,,lol.  Again, small town.  He was the one I called one Saturday morning and asked if he would finance two houses for us, and he said yeah, come in Monday and sign the papers..... lol  We had found one to buy, and still owed on the one we lived in.

Got to go over there, my bro has that house now,  and take pics of all his snakes....About 88.  And no telling how many loose in the back of his truck...hahahaha.  Someone looking at them in his cage, saw some rattlers sticking out from under his tool box, and asked about them.,,. Sure enough, they were connected to a pretty big one that had gotten out.  He patched up the hole,,,thinks he got it secure now.  So,  moral of this story, don't go digging around in the back of his truck,,, lolololol.

What a Day

I haven't been out, and about an hour ago, could hear it sleeting, but just for a few minutes.  Not even any on the ground. 

I cooked some stuffed peppers this morning, so had good eats.  lol, just had a second one for supper.  It's all my dotter's fault,,she brought me 2 last week,,,soooo good, had to make some.  Got everything cooked, putting it together, and,,,, NO tomato sauce!  Had 2 cans of tomato soup, so thot,,hmmm, i'll just use that.   HA!  The first one didn't look good,, kinda dark colored.  Got to thinking,,, better not use it, so opened the second one,,,even worse...  Didn't want botulism so I threw them out the door, almost got cold,,,  Called my dotter, see if she had tomato sauce, and nope, she was out too.  hmmmmm, not going to the store.  She suggested, use some ketchup.  Well,,,ok,, so I did, and it worked fine.

I cooked in spurts,,lol.  Can't stand on my feet very long, so I have to have a quick easy recipe.

He fixed this laptop!!  Honestly didn't think it could be done.  This man is retired from some big computer company, teaches computer classes, mostly to the seniors there in Kingsland.  I found him years ago, in the phone book, and have never used anyone else.

Gonna watch what I download,,,lol.  He gave me a list of things to do to keep it cleaned up.

When I had picked it up, I circled by to see if my g/dotter was home, and they were.  Ended up staying all afternoon.  We went to the great Mexican food place and ate lunch,,, and i'm still full.  Had 1/2 order of nachos, loaded.  Took a basket of chips to eat all that.

Just thot i'd let yall know,, back on my laptop and it sure feels good.  So yall tc, and

Not Sure About my Laptop

I did a short post late yesterday, and it's not here,,, hmmmm.  Worked on clean up on this desktop for 2 days, and it's better.   Not sure what's gonna happen with my laptop.  If nothing else, i'll restore windows from the original disk,, do NOT want windows 8. 


Will I be able to transfer my pictures, documents, etc to a flash drive without infecting anything later?  Questions and more questions.


I had things start happening, and in the process of trying to fix them, more and more invasions happened.  Then, when I tried to open IE, got a blank page.  That was it!

A Little More

I was one of 3, 2 bros, and we played outside ALL THE TIME.  Our Dad loved to have all the neighbor kids at our house too.  I remember back when "jacks" got so popular,,maybe when I was in the 5th grade, and we would all gather round the kitchen table playing JACKS, Dad and Mom too.  When I was 15, they decided to have some more,,,lol.  So, 3 more.  Loved that too.

Our family was so lucky, growing up like we did.  And yeah, we had to go find a good switch sometimes, but knew we deserved it.  My daughter says now, she never realized how different our family was, til she got older.
 
We ate beans and cornbread a LOT,, and now you know how healthy that was.  Had fried chicken on Sundays, that we had raised and frozen during the spring.  Had gardens, that we all had to help with.  Gravy and biscuits for breakfast, if no eggs,,, yummm, what I've been having a lot for supper lately.  I remember one time, we had the preacher over for Sunday dinner, and Mom never got over it, being so embarrassed.  She forgot to put salt in her bisbuits!

You didn't sue your neighbor either, not in a small town like ours.  Well, you didn't sue anybody actually.

We were safe to play outside in the dark.  Of course, we were loud, so  you looked if everything got quiet... lol.

We couldn't tattletale on each other either.  One of Mom's rules.  Dad loved to let us fight it out,,,lolol,,,I'm talking fist fights.

Whew, that post really made me nostalgic,,,how about yall?

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE

1930s, '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s!!

 

First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank

while they were pregnant.

 

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

 

Then, after that trauma, we were

put to sleep on our tummies

in baby cribs covered

with bright colored lead-based paints.

 

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets,

and, when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps,

not helmets, on our heads.

 

As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes..

 

  Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

 

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

 

 We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.

 

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter, and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight.

WHY?

Because we were always outside playing...that' s why!

 

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.

--And, we were OKAY.

 

We would spend hours building

our go-carts out of scraps..

and then ride them down the hill,

only to find out we forgot the brakes.. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

 

We did not have Play Stations, Nintendos and X-boxes. There were

no video games, no 150 channels on cable,

no video movies or DVDs,

no surround-sound or CDs,

no cell phones,

no personal computers,

no Internet and no chat rooms.

 

 WE HAD FRIENDS

and we went outside and found  them!

 

We fell out of trees, got cut,

broke bones and teeth,

and there were no lawsuits

from those accidents.
We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, and no one would call child services to report abuse.

 

We ate worms, and mud pies

made from dirt, and

the worms did not live in us forever.

 
  We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and 

-although we were told it would happen- we did not put out very many eyes.

 

  We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

 

  Little League had tryouts

and not everyone made the team.

Those who didn't had to learn

to deal with disappointment.

  Imagine that!! 

 

 

 The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

 

 These generations have produced some of the best  risk-takers,

problem solvers, and inventors ever.

 

The past 50 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas..

 

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

 

If YOU are one of those born

between 1925-1970, CONGRATULATIONS! 

 

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

 

 While you are at it, forward it to your kids, so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

 

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?
