This is almost every nite. I'm so tired during the day i just sit and stay on the computer, or watch tv. What a life! I'm not making any progress with my walking, but it has nothing to do with my hip (it's great), it's all the years i had before, not being able to walk much. So now i have a lot of catch-up to do. IF i could sleep!

My feet start hurting after i go to bed with neuropathy. I sit up until i get so sleepy i have to go back to bed and hope they'll let me sleep.

I looked at BBs blog and he hasn't posted either. Has anybody heard from him?

Sure hated to hear about Dusty. I know that'll take a long time healing. Be ready there, Dizzy. Are you making big pots of food, like stews, chili, beans, spaghetti, etc? That way not a whole lot of cooking....Me? I'd do a lot of pickup. Even the freezer section at the store has lots of prepared foods. Guess you can tell I don't do a lot of cooking...I can make a peach cobbler with a can of peach pie filling, a pie crust out of the refrigerator section, torn up into the pie filling, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar... Now how easy is that?

Got me hungry,, having to cook a piece of toast. lol.

My g/dotter brought the little man up on Saturday. He is a super entertainer. Has copper color hair, and my bro has christened him Copperhead.... He does all the kids. Calls one Freckles, and I asked him why one time... said he had ONE on the side of his face. Well, anyway, Copperhead is 20 months old, and the only time i saw him still, was when Daniel Tiger was turned on. Now i know where he gets his moves...rolling his shoulders, bending his knees, and rolling his hips too. Shaking his head... o yeah, he's got em. She said he really impressed a lot of people at a music fest they had been to.. Got the folk music fest coming up next week, in Kerrville. People camp out in a pasture!! for 3 weeks, in that horrible heat... I hope she takes a leash, seriously. That little red head RUNS all the time.
I was walking the first day. Isnt that amazing? Is, to me. Its been 3 1/2 weeks and theres very little pain, and thats better every day. My home physical therapist came by earlier and told me to use just the cane most of the time.

I dont have any food so i have to go to the store, went out yesterday and picked up something to eat at a drive thru. I was able to drive with NO problem...Not sure how ill get groceries in,, but will worry about that later.

Its HOT today, supposed to be a cold front go thru tonite. Really tempting to turn the AC on..
My son passed away last Tuesday, don't know why yet. He was 52, and my last.
I had a good day on Monday, and had gotten out, drove by and he was home, so I stopped and visited for a while. He hadn't been doing good, but wasn't worse or anything. I left about 5 and he had gone to the bathroom, but told me thanks for coming by. His friend that was teaching him the guitar went by the next day, Tuesday, and found him. There's a lot we don't know yet, but it had to be something sudden. He had never had any problems with his heart, so,,, we just don't know.
His future was horrible, with his body problems, and he told me that day that he had been told he needed 3 vertebrae fused in his neck. When he got up he couldn't feel his legs or arms for a few minutes.
That's all I can do right now.
I feel like I'm coming down with something. Lots of phlegm in my throat and feels like it's getting sore. I called and asked my pharmacist and he recommended mucinexDM so I got a box. I think everybody has it. Gotta keep my mouth shut, no talking.
Ok, yall tc, and
Rarely leave the house because of that.

Thot i was gonna have to go to the store to get a few things, mainly 2, to make chicken and rice from a very simple recipe, and o wow,,, my friend that sends me meals sent one of chicken and rice today! lol.

This friend cooks for a couple once a week, and told me it was no trouble to just put enough for me to make a meal too. I pay her a little, once a month, but this helps me so much. She does a lot more than once a week for me, and the one she sends makes me at least 2 meals... I was gonna make a pot of 16 bean soup too,,, just haven't done that yet. Got a package of corn bread mix out last week, but,, out of date as usual (for me),, tried it anyway, then threw it away. Didn't rise. Just bought ONE to cook. lol,, no keeping any for a future need.. would let it get old. It's sitting there on the counter with the package of 16 bean soup mix. Hate to rinse that mix, all those little things go thru the holes in the colander.

My feet and lower legs began swelling again a few weeks ago. Have an appointment to see my doc on tues. morning. Don't want anything messing up my surgery date on 2-13-17!

Update on my son... he fell again last week and broke the same bones that had just gotten well,,, his knee cap and some little ones in his foot. He also got bitten by a possum and had to take the rabies shots,, then refused to take the last one. The possum was on his porch facing off with a cat over cat food, and he swatted at it, and it bit his hand and wrist. It ran off, so no testing could be done and that's why the shots.

This great grand child is such an adorable boy,,, i can just sit and watch him forever. My g/dotter sent a video of him crawling and sliding on his belly backwards, down a long hall, stopping once to look back and turn to get to the stairs he had to go down. hahahaha,,, did a LOT of preparing for them! He's been running for a few months,, didn't say walking,, he kinda skipped that. He will go to the box of toys at my daughters and pick out a spoon or a whisk, then stir in a bowl or pan. He wakes up smiling, and in just a few minutes, he's going full blast again...running. He's got music in his soul,, will dance just hearing it... wish i could put a vid on here. It's on facebook, can't do it.

Ok, i'm just sitting here not having anything else to write about, so, yall have a
I was really hurting so even that distance was hard for me, but i slowly made it. I stayed down as much as possible, but there was just a certain amount i had to do, like go around the 2 tables loaded and fill my plate, just a bite of this and that,,,go to the bathroom a few times, almost killing me to get up from the low toilet. I came home and took a nap later, then went back. Couldn't get up by the gate, but got as close as i could, and there was a big crowd in the garage already playing poker....Later went in the house and got a plate to take home. By 5 or so i was hurting bad enough i had to come home.

Couldn't do anything about the pain for the rest of the day and night..HORRIBLE...
Stayed down most of the day Friday because of the pain, and today it's a little better. Gosh, that injection sure didn't last long.

That was my Thanksgiving. Hope everybody's was a lot better!
Gosh, am i ready! I did get an injection, steroid, last Tuesday and from the first deadening shot, i got huge pain relief. I could feel it going thru the whole area, so when the feelings came back, my pain level was like a 1 or 2.... WOW. I even took off once from the bathroom without a walker to answer my phone, without realizing it....Now i know what a new hip will do... lol.

Not sure i'm going to my brother's house for TG dinner,,, 1/2 block from me, lol. His driveway is long and narrow, don't know why he built it that way, but with all the family, it is so inconvenient to get to his house. THEN, here you are carrying food! I know i would be able to park as close as is possible but just not sure i want to handle it. You get out of your vehicle, have to go thru a chain link gate, and still go down a sidewalk, up steps to the door. Horrible set up. Having someone bring me a plate is just lots more appealing. Did it last year.

Their g/dotter has just been transferred to an acute care enter in Round Rock, a few days ago. And is having to deal with what happened, and how much time, 3 months, has been lost to her. She's the one that was burned throwing the gas on hot embers. They kept her sedated all that time because of her movements when she wasn't,, letting the grafts heal.
We just had our first freeze. Seems like it's so late, but i think normal is 11-12,,,what i saw on the weather.
Mainly appointments with docs. Trying to get approval for hip replacement, just got a stress test done, but,,,, he wants me to do an electrocardiogram now. "He" is a pa, not the main one. There was something he wanted to check further. Ok with me as long as i can do the hip..

Now, this stress test was NOT like the one i had before that i'd never do again. I got to sit on a high stool thing, with a padded arm in front of me that i folded my arms on it and put my head on them for about 15 minutes... hey i did it! Twice,,, lol. The only part i really hated was when they put something into my veins and made me feel like i was running on a tread mill, had to really breathe hard. It increased for 2 minutes, then went slowly off for a minute, 3 total. Now, that was hard. My blood pressure went wayyyyyy up once, like, 218/118. They really stressed me out lol.

Just seeing that we are under a weather alert... been pouring for a bit. Heard a deputy say a couple of streets had about 4" of water on them.

Made myself some oatmeal for lunch, needed something warm. I had finally turned on a little heat in here,..... We still haven't had a frost!

My g/daughter brought Little Man over yesterday and i just sat and watched him for hours...He was 1 on 9/11, and will keep you entertained forever. One time he was just running back and forth, and when he went by me he squinched his eyes shut and never slowed down! He doesn't know he needs to watch what he's doing, hahahaha., talk about learn the hard way. Then when she put him in the hi-chair and put spaghetti on it, he would pick one up and sling it out,,,he had fun with that for a bit before he started eating it...His hair is so red it glows,,, lol.
I'll try not to wait so long in the future,,,didn't know i could even write this much today,,,yall tc, and

Waiting for my car to get picked up this morning. Just for a going over, check up,,,If i go out of town, i want to know everything is ok,,, and i know, it can still have something come up. Sometimes it hangs in park and i went by and asked him about it last week. He said after i start it, to wait about 5 seconds to move the shiffter to let it do something?,, dont remember what. Anyway it still is hard sometimes. Little things like that.

I dont think i wrote about this, but my niece was burned with gas about a month ago, dumb dumb dumb, but she threw it on embers and when it flamed up she stepped back and fell. It burned her about 30% mostly over her hips and legs. They flew her to the Brooks Army Burn Center in San Antonio. She is finally showing some improvement over the pneumonia, and a bad infection, which is finally gone. They still havent let her regain consciousness, which is good what with the treatment they have to do, and are doing skin grafts as much as possible. Might be there another month. Dont know what will happen later, she and her husband fight all the time, just got kicked out of their trailer for not making payments, 3 little kids they shouldnt have custody of. Still, shes family and its going to be horrible for her. Would appreciate your prayers for her.

Weve had lots of rain and the lakes are full !!!,,, Been years. Having to use the flood gates a lot, now.

Im supposed to have a stress test and there is one in F'burg that doesnt require you to lay on a little narrow table with your arms up for 20 minutes not moving, twice. Wont do that ever again. Just cant. This other one is an ETT?,, myocardial?,, and they inject something in you, let you sit in a chair when they hook you up to the machine,,, and gosh, dont know what im talking about, just that i wouldnt have to lay on a table twice. Now im wondering if a hip replacement would help, since it hurts on both upper legs in the bursa area, the same. Gonna ask before i do anything else.

Enough yet? Im out of anything to say, so yall tc, and
Well, not much, just baked 4 of those chicken tosquitas,,, 11 minutes, and it's STILL tooo hot to use my toaster oven! My weatherbug thingy is showing 102 and my new portable AC just won't cool down below 84.

I looked for days at those portable ACs, and went ahead and got a 10000 btu, but,,, should have gotten a bigger one, even tho the info said it would cool the area I needed. Of course, this is Texas hot.

Now, don't get excited, but I went to bed the 2nd, started shaking, teeth chattering,,, hard chills. Couldn't get em to stop, ended up calling the ambulance to go to the ER. Turns out, had a urinal track infection, 103 temp.,,, and that had put my heart into A-Fib. They finally decided to send me to Round Rock to monitor the heart while they treated the infection. I was there 3 or 4 days, MISSED OUR FISH FRY ON THE 4TH! And actually, what was done could have been done here, because nothing was changed until I went to see my doc here last Tues. She upped one of my meds for the A-Fib, so we'll see if it works. I'm doing fine. The only time it races is when I first get up. Takes about 20 minutes to quit. I keep having those and don't know why, nobody else does either. I'm seeing the urologist in a week,,, see what he says. I rode in an ambulance to get there, and it was like riding in a wagon bed.... horrible.

My son came up to the ER and waited with me,,, was horrified at my readings.. 158 pulse, bp like 258/156 or something like that. I think the med is gonna work. If meds won't then a pace maker is the future.

Seeing that hip doc next wed.... wonder if he'll help me with all this other going on....

OOOO MMM GGGG... seeing a commercial about shingles,,,had em,, horrible thing. GET the VACCINATION!!!

My pain doc put an epidural injection into my hip about a month ago, thot I would die that nite for about 4-6 hours. Worst pain I've ever had. Won't ever do another one. But anyway, the next day there was no pain, and over the next week the pain came back a little at a time, but not as bad. I guess it did help quite a bit. Have an apt. to see the hip doc in July.

My sis is having her annual bbq later today, and 2 cousins came down from Paris for the weekend. These are my 2 favs. They're 6 or 8 years younger, but their Mom was always my fav aunt too. I had forgotten she died on 7-4 a few years ago.

Yall might have heard about the drowning here last week. It was on a lot of news channels. Even my cousin said he heard it up there. The river goes right thru the middle of town, and there's a dam too, creating a holding area for our water. Anyway, forever, people have walked out on the dam and fished on the bottom side from it. This man and his 13 yo dotter were about in the middle and she fell in, and didn't come up, so he jumped in to rescue her, and in the meantime another man had done the same, got the girl, resuscitated her while 2 more men managed to get the dad out. But it was too late for him. Still don't understand how this could happen. There were no flood gates open, so how could there be a current? People swim there all the time, and this is a first. Maybe i'll learn more.

My nephew came over and put these sun/heat blocking screens over most of my windows a couple of days ago. Makes a world of difference with my ACs. He made frames from trim boards, stapled the screen on, and tacked it up over the windows. Didn't know it came on a roll, and there's plenty to do the few other ones. Will get to those later. This makes up for my huge tree.

Gotta git,,, nap time. Gotta prepare for that good time coming... Yall tc, and
I have so many appointments to keep up with, hurt so much of the time, then add in trying to remember things,,, lol...Memory not any worse, its just so much.

I was put on a stronger pain med, (which i really hate) but it seems to do me some good. I don't hurt as much, but i wish i could just say,,,, do the implant....There's a trial period i would have to do first.

I was put on Eliquis for my heart beat or something,, and i would have to quit taking it for about 2 weeks to have the implant that would hook wires to my spine. Forget what it's called,, (lololol). Then it would be a danger of forming a blood clot if i fell or something. I might get to the point to say,,, DO IT ANYWAY.

A friend came up with parkinson's a couple of years ago, and she's just in her 50s...She just had that brain implant done and it worked! SOOOO GOOOD! She's still getting it fine tuned, but the shaking is stopping! I really admire her for doing it. But she says,,, what choice did i have?,,

I had to have my eyes tested yesterday, and i don't have Macular Degeneration. It's kinda like it, but age related. I'm to go back next week and see a specialist, but she said he would probably just want to keep a watch. No change for new lens.

See? All i can talk about is my problems with health!

Lunch time,, be back,, some day. lol. Yall tc, and
The doc put an injection into the SI area, said it was the only place left to try...(OMG, then what?) And it seems to be working, little or no pain now. I'm still having to use the walker and probably always will, but,, no pain? I'll do that. I know BB mentioned this and i hope his is working for him. We seem to have the exact same problem. I was just getting to the place where i couldn't find a pain free position to sleep,,, not good. There is still one option, the spinal pain stimulater. But that's an implant and she explained it could be a problem with the new drug i was put on,,Eliquis. I told her i would stop taking it long enough to do what was needed. O well, still hoping this injection is gonna work.

Ok,, enough of that. I had decided i couldn't go to my nephew's for our annual Easter get-together,,, but,, my SIL told me they would take her mother's wheel chair she had at her house, and i wouldn't have to worry about trying to walk. SOOOOO i did and it was fantastic. I could use the chair like a rolling walker and get in and out.

He had our butcher cut 32 1" pork chops, and i don't know how many chickens, plus sides of sausage, maybe other stuff,,, lol. SOOOO GOOOD! I had 1/2 of one chop, a little potato salad, and a little baked beans. Now to tell the rest of the story,,,, 1 small piece of chocolate pie, and half of a small slice of pecan. I didn't even bring anything home, which i usually do for another meal. I did take a 12 pack of beer when i went out the day before so the "cooks" would be encouraged to cut that wood,,, hahahaha.

I took my son a plate since he couldn't go, couldn't walk either. He went to the doc yesterday and he drained a lot of fluid off his knee, and put a steroid shot in it too. He called last nite and was amazed he could already walk on it. He can't wait to get it well enough to use that little rolling scooter thingy they gave him,,, hahahaha. (you put a knee on it and roll away, no crutches.) He'll be rolling all over town!

Did yall know that our Verizon is now Frontier? I changed it all last week, but when i tried to pay my bill today, i couldn't sooooo,,, just decided to wail til after the first. NOW, hope i don't forget...lololol. I pay almost everything online, postman told me i was taking his job away,,, hahahaha.

Have yall seen that new TV show, Little Big Shots? Love it. It's like the old Art Linkletter(?) about kids say the darnest things. I recorded 2 hours of it Sunday nite, and watched a little last nite. It had idenital twins 11 yo, playing jazz with their horns... O WOW. They had about 8 of their siblings as the rest of the band, played 'when the saints go marching in".....Might have to back up and see that again, was so good.

Ok people,,, hope i've made up for missing so many postings, so yall tc, and
I'm still in that same mode,,no news, at least nothing to write about. I have such a boring life. I still hurt, nothing has helped, don't know what to do, and i still have the same dog problem, got a call in now for the animal control man.

Going in the morning for the follow up with my heart. I think the meds are going to be the answer, they have done it so far. TG!!! i didn't get put on cummaton,(?) They put me on Eliquis, a new one that works like cummaton, just doesn't make you bleed a lot from cuts, etc. She told me not to read the insert papers and throw them away,,, lol, so i didn't even read them. She said to look at what would happen if i didn't take them...Heck, at this point,, i just don't care. I'm on about 10 or 12 meds, and that's not counting a couple of vitamins, or occasional ones.

I've been getting a Walmart order ready, making a list, etc. LOVE IT, that i can order online and it's delivered to my door... in lots of packages,,, lol.

I was parked at the grocery store yesterday, and saw this aged lady leaning on a buggy, barely able to take a SLOW step, and got to watching, wondering ,, was she driving?,,, There was a boy helping her til they got close to her small pickup, then he put her groceries in and left her on her own with her cane. He took the buggy with him. She leaned on her truck front and slowing went around, then slowly finally got in,, and all this time i'm watching to see if she's gonna make it or not. She sat there a while, then when she finally started it, and drove off (slow) i decided to follow just to see how she was going to get her stuff in. She drove ok, and i went on by when she got to her house, BUT, went around and she was still sitting there with the door open. WELL, i still couldn't drop it, soooo,,,, went back after a few minutes, and she had somehow gotten a wheel barrow and was there by her passenger door to unload her stuff. So i guess she made it. Wow.... I'm bad but not nearly that much. How does she make it? Living alone i assume.

I wonder if she knows she can use the senior bus, and they would help her in and out? I might tell her, if i see her again, and i will watch for her. I have a hard time carrying in a gal of milk and she had a 12 pack of beer. I've started using my big red wagon,,, lol.
I went to my lazyboy for the slant, used an inhaler for asthma, nothing helped. So, after about an hour, i called an ambulance, thinking it might be that pneumonia i had before. Thank God it wasn't but they found that my heart rhythm was too far off, on the top of my heart, sooooo, they kept me for observation, did thousands of tests, lol, and i didn't get to come home until Thursday at noon. Seeing my doc next Thurs for follow up, maybe a med change. They did contact my heart doc too. They told me that was why i was tired so much, and had the trouble breathing.

THEN, after a couple of flushes Sat morning,my toilet stopped up totally. I called my plumber, had to leave a message,,,, didn't get a call back. Remembered reading some dawn (dish soap) hacks on facebook, i had saved them, so i looked them up and sure enough, there was one to use for a stopped up toilet.....I put the cup of dawn in it, let it set overnight,(says 15 minutes) and poured the bucket of hot water in today....Took a minute or so, and WOOOHOOOO,,, it went down!! I got to call and cancel the plumber! I had a potty chair thank God. Use the frame over the commode.

Well, that's all my news,,, lol.... otherwise, same ol, same ol. O yeah, started using my oxygen and breathing machine at night, again. Slept 8 straight hours last nite...Yall tc, and
About 10,00 to make the chicken stew stuff, and i had potatoes, a can of mixed veges. Sure was good tho. I made it in the crock pot, throw it all in, cook.

The recipe is on www. kraftrecipes.com/recipes/slow-cooker-pantry-chicken-stew. It called for 2 c of baby carrots, i put potatoes. then a c of peas, i put mixed veges.

My car started missing again,, on Friday, so i called my x and he told me he had found a new one. He glued the old one and it had lasted this long. My son did come by and put it on, no change. Still missing, engine light still on. Today i took it to the place i get my repairs done, no miss, from the time i started it, til i turned it off back home. He said maybe picked up some water in the gas, had been having that a lot, sooooo,,,, maybe, maybe it won't ever happen again...He checked my fluids, and tires. Need my oil changed in the near future, but J put a quart in so im gonna let it go a while.

Ok, about lunch time, cooking a couple of frozen egg rolls. so yall tc, and
Now it feels like i pulled something and i can barely move or sit,,, or anything,,, lol. I took a pain pill right after 5, do can't take another one yet. I twist and turn trying to get relief and cant,, it's in y right hip area, and gosh it hurts.

Ok enough, i'm just getting old,,and older.

Working with the animal control officer here on that yapping dog next door. I'm at keeping a list of date, time, etc. Calling in and asking them to put a note in his box about it. After the holidays he will take it to a judge and hopefully something will be done. I called in at 2:30am yesterday,,, lol. Hopefully an officer went by and woke THEM up.

My nephew's house burned all the way down Wed. nite during the nite. He got out with a few burns, but lost everything. Worst thing is,, the fund set up for him was done by my sister (another one) and she will just take out anything she wants for herself. I sent my niece a question about it, but wont donate a thing til i know who's in charge, and probably a lot more feel the same way. That sister and the rest of the family do NOT associate. Her husband, a baptist preacher, sexually abused children, family ones too, and when we all found out, she took HIS side and stayed with him. But even their own kids won't let THEIR kids around him. He pleaded guilty and got 10 years probation at his trial, and we were assured he would end up in prison, BUT,, he hasn't and it's about over. Then he will be totally free. When any of us have called his probation officer about things he's done, all they do is slap his wrist, say,, dont do it again.

Enough of that too lol.

I sent an email thru My Chart to my pain doc, and a nurse called me and i was told that the RFA would still work, what i was concerned about, and it might even be a little more than 3 weeks. When i carried in a heavy load of groceries, then next day, a heavy trash bag out, i was down for a day. I wasn't told bout that. But now i know,,,

I decided i would just hand out the few gifts i got for my kids, and a few others... Just not up to plugging in my tree, wrapping, or anything. Gonna try to make one of the jello salads for dinner that day and that's it.

Sure hope yall have a great Xmas, and able to be with family... so,, tc and
You said,,,YOU'RE SELLING YOUR MOTORHOME!!!OMG,, you never even used it!!! OMG! Guess you might as well,, not gonna use it, get rid of it, huh.

But to me, it's so sad. Such hi hopes to blow and go, then it just stayed parked, wrecked it up moving it around in your driveway.

I had the RFA, radio frequency ablation, done Monday. Hasn't done it's thing yet, could take a week or more. And BB, don't be a wuss. The deadening hurt the worst. They did tell me later i did SUPER good, and by that they meant i didn't scream and holler...hahahaha,,, i thot she was joking, but she wasn't. I told her i would never have done that, had 4 kids and never did that either. She said we were old school, grit your teeth, take it. My son always took his mouth guard to use.

The nerves will take up to 3 weeks to be fully burned into, and the doc said she had high hopes on this one. (me). She did the deadening for 4 areas, then started the other... after one i said, 3 more... She said Nope, all thru.. hahahaha. Did the 4 from that.

You know, all this year i have been in severe pain, got to where i didn't know what i was gonna have to do, and asked about this. The tests weren't done til then! Why didn't someone tell me my options?
I guess it was because they kept passing me back and forth between hip and spine docs. Probably my fault, couldn't do that MRI.

BB, i'm concerned about you, so please get something done about your stomach, back,,and whatever else you need, ya hear? You need to get back to TX you know. Some of the greatest docs in the world are in Houston. Even if you have to stop and spend time on the way,,, soon as you can, do it.

Springtime, here. Been hot for days, and will be til Sat. nite, then a stormy front will go thru. Not much change tho.

I looked at the date yesterday,,, and it registered on me... 15 days til Xmas? OOOOO WOW. I've done nothing and might not. I do have the gifts, cause i do them way early every year...I buy gifts just whenever all year,,, put them away and have them when i want them. So never any last minute thing.
I didn't make it for dinner, just wasn't able, but did go down there about 4PM, and stayed for a long time. Here in the garage where the poker was going on...At times there were even more than this playing. SUCH a good time! Brad brought me a plate at noon, after calling to ask what i wanted, and when he discovered later he had brought the wrong dressing, here he came with the right one, AND the gravy too..... hahahaha (he had forgotten that).

These tell her it's actually those nerves coming from my spine so the radio frequency ablation will be on the right ones, and will burn them into. It will last 6 months to a year, she said, cause the nerves will grow back.....(couldn't wait to tell my son that). The injections yesterday will help more than the first round and i can tell pretty much even today. Not using my walker like i was. Still using the pain pills tho.

If i don't get a lot better, i can't go to my bro's house for Thanksgiving, due to the walking i would have to do. And so many people there, the chairs to sit in, etc. Hard on this ol leg, hip pain. Kinda sounds pretty good, lol, and i think someone would bring me some plates... lol, you do see the plural there dont ya? I always bring home one plate of desserts, little of this, little of that makes a plate full you know. Also, the main turkey or ham, or pot roast, whatever, and all the zillions of sides.

I stopped to get my fresh eggs from my friend and ooooo wow! She and her dotter gave me a plate of deer meat, mashed potatoes and gravy!! too. Her dotter does the hunting and had gotten one that morning. Just had breakfast and getting hungry all over again, thinking about that.....

Roping A Deer-

(Names have been removed to protect the Stupid)

I had this idea that I was going to rope a deer, put it in a stall, feed it up on corn for a couple of weeks, then kill it and eat it.

The first step in this adventure was getting a deer. I figured that, since they congregate at my cattle feeder and do not seem to have much fear of me when we are there (a bold one will sometimes come right up and sniff at the bags of feed while I am in the back of the truck not 4 feet away), it should not be difficult to rope one, get up to it and toss a bag over its head (to calm it down) then hog tie it and transport it home.

I filled the cattle feeder then hid down at the end with my rope.

The cattle, having seen the roping thing before, stayed well back. They were not having any of it.

After about 20 minutes, my deer showed up - 3 of them. I picked out...a likely looking one, stepped out from the end of the feeder, and threw...my rope. The deer just stood there and stared at me.

I wrapped the rope around my waist and twisted the end so I would have a good hold. The deer still just stood and stared at me, but you could tell it was mildly concerned about the whole rope situation.

I took a step towards it...it took a step away. I put a little tension on the rope and then received an education.

The first thing that I learned is that, while a deer may just stand there looking at you funny while you rope it, they are spurred to action when you start pulling on that rope.

That deer EXPLODED.

The second thing I learned is that pound for pound, a deer is a LOT stronger than a cow or a colt. A cow or a colt in that weight range I could fight down with a rope and with some dignity.

A deer – no chance.

That thing ran and bucked and twisted and pulled.

There was no controlling it and certainly no getting close to it.

As it jerked me off my feet and started dragging me across the ground, it occurred to me that having a deer on a rope was not nearly as good and idea as I had originally imagined.

The only up side is that they do not have as much stamina as many other animals.

A brief 10 minutes later, it was tired and not nearly as quick to jerk me off my feet and drag me when I managed to get up. It took me a few minutes to realize this, since I was mostly blinded by the blood flowing out of the big gash in my head. At that point, I had lost my taste for corn-fed venison. I just wanted to get that devil creature off the end of that rope.

I figured if I just let it go with the rope hanging around its neck, it would likely die slow and painfully somewhere. At the time, there was no love at all between me and that deer. At that moment, I hated the thing, and I would venture a guess that the feeling was mutual.

Despite the gash in my head and the several large knots where I had cleverly arrested the deer’s momentum by bracing my head against various large rocks as it dragged me across the ground, I could still think clearly enough to recognize that there was a small chance that I shared some tiny amount of responsibility for the situation we were in, so I didn’t want the deer to have to suffer a slow death, so I managed to get it lined back up in between my truck and the feeder - a little trap I had set before hand...kind of like a squeeze chute.

I got it to back in there and I started moving up so I could get my rope back.

Did you know that deer bite?

They do! I never in a million years would have thought that a deer would bite somebody, so I was very surprised when I reached up there to grab that rope and the deer grabbed hold of my wrist.

Now, when a deer bites you, it is not like being bit by a horse where they just bite you and then let go. A deer bites you and shakes its head – almost like a pit bull. They bite HARD and it HURTS.

The proper thing to do when a deer bites you is probably to freeze and draw back slowly. I tried screaming and shaking instead. My method was ineffective. It seems like the deer was biting and shaking for several minutes, but it was likely only several seconds.

I, being smarter than a deer (though you may be questioning that claim by now), tricked it! I tricked that deer!

While I kept it busy tearing the tendons out of my right arm, I reached up with my left hand and pulled that rope loose. That was when I got my final lesson in deer behavior for the day.

Deer will strike at you with their front feet. They rear right up on their back feet and strike...right about head and shoulder level, and their hooves are surprisingly sharp. I learned a long time ago that, when an animal–like a horse–strikes at you with their hooves and you can’t get away easily, the best thing to do is try to make a loud noise and make an aggressive move towards the animal. This will usually cause them to back down a bit so you can escape.

This was not a horse.

This was a deer, so obviously, such trickery would not work. In the course of a millisecond, I devised a different strategy. I screamed and hollered and tried to turn and run.

The reason I had always been told NOT to try to turn and run from a horse that paws at you is that there is a good chance that it will hit you in the back of the head. Deer may not be so different from horses after all, besides being twice as strong and 3 times as evil, because the second I turned to run, it hit me right in the back of the head and knocked me down.

Now, when a deer paws at you and knocks you down, it does not immediately leave. I suspect it does not recognize that the danger has passed. What they do instead is paw your back and jump up and down on you wile you are laying there crying and trying to cover your head.

I finally managed to crawl under the truck and the deer finally went away.

So now I know why when people go deer hunting they bring a rifle with a scope to sort of even the odds.

That was the reason i left it anyway. Anybody doing this? Or signed up? Hate bums!

My g/dotter showed up with one, and i had to tell her SHE and the baby could stay anytime, but NEVER him any more. My God, he's 46 and still doing online classes to earn some kind of a degree, (excuse for not working). Now he's too old to even get a 20 year retirement. Talks about all these high paying jobs he can get,, well dude,,, where are they? Surely she'll wake up. No one can stand him around here, probably anywhere else too.

Gosh, had a hard time trying to sleep last nite, with this pain. No position worked. and i barely could get up this morning. I guess i set too long in a bad chair at my brother's yesterday. It's like i'm sore from the pain, BAD! Gonna stay pretty inactive today. for sure! And here i thot those injections were working... (plz plz work).

Took a couple of pictures yesterday, the Friday before deer season... Usually can't get thru town, with the hunters everywhere. We advertised we're the capitol of TX in deer hunting. Used to be the USA, and before that, the world.... lol. Just know there's LOTs. We have 2 cousins down from Sherman and are out at my Sis's today, unless the rain made them wait. She told them they better not shoot her doe and her twins. Hope they don't but others might. On the river, right behind her, they could get shot any time. There's been 3 bucks coming there too, and she told them they were ok.

As a matter of fact, i haven't heard any big guns going off today,,,, hmmmm, rain must have messed a lot up.

Having trouble with my u not wanting to work.

All the merchants raised their prices for the hunters. Groceries, gas, but when i went in to get a kid's bun at Inman's Kitchen, home of turkey sausage, and with the beans, total was over 6.00, i just canceled and left. That little 1/2 cup of beans were 1.95!!!,,, Nope, not me. Should come with the other food, like Cooper's does.

Mercy! I've gotta take a nap,,,think i can get into my laz/y/boy and do it. Yall tc, and
